A Residência Oficial do Primeiro-Ministro, no Palacete de São Bento, acolhe, todos os anos, uma seleção de obras de artistas contemporâneos portugueses pertencentes a uma coleção privada de fora de Lisboa.

A iniciativa Arte em São Bento foi criada em 2017, com o intuito de afirmar a vitalidade da produção artística nacional e o seu contributo para projetar a imagem de um país inovador e contemporâneo.

A Residência Oficial é um espaço de representação e de soberania política, onde cada área tem uma funcionalidade específica. Neste contexto, a arte proporciona ao visitante uma experiência distinta de uma exposição num espaço museológico ou numa galeria.

O estilo arquitetónico do palacete e o mobiliário existente constituem desafios a que os curadores têm sabido responder, sem reduzir as obras de arte a uma função meramente decorativa.

A partir de 5 de outubro de 2020, a Residência Oficial apresentará uma seleção de obras provenientes da Coleção Figueiredo Ribeiro, com curadoria de Ana Anacleto e João Silvério.

Cobrindo um vasto período da produção artística portuguesa contemporânea, a Coleção Figueiredo Ribeiro está em depósito no município de Abrantes, estando na base da criação do Quartel da Arte Contemporânea, em 2016, com vista à sua fruição pública.

A seleção de obras apresentadas na Residência Oficial reflete cruzamentos entre gerações distintas de artistas e teve em consideração a representação paritária, entre outros aspetos.

Nas edições anteriores, a Arte em São Bento acolheu a Coleção Serralves (2017), a Coleção António Cachola/Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Elvas (2018), e a Coleção Norlinda e José Lima (2019).

A inauguração da Arte em São Bento 2020 – Coleção Figueiredo Ribeiro terá lugar na segunda-feira, dia 5 de outubro de 2020, às 11h30. O evento inclui a abertura das novas salas remodeladas no âmbito da iniciativa paralela Design em São Bento, inaugurada em janeiro de 2020, com curadoria de Bárbara Coutinho.

A Residência Oficial estará aberta ao público para visitas à Arte em São Bento 2020 e ao Design em São Bento no dia 5 de outubro, entre as 15h00 e as 19h00.

The Prime Minister’s Official Residence, in the Palacete de São Bento, hosts, every year, a selection of works by contemporary Portuguese artists belonging to a private collection outside Lisbon.

“Arte em São Bento” initiative was created in 2017, with the aim of affirming the vitality of national artistic production and its contribution to projecting the image of an innovative and contemporary country.

The Official Residence is a space for representation and political sovereignty, where each area has a specific functionality. In this context, art provides the visitor with a different experience from an exhibition in a museum or gallery.

The architectural style of the palace and the existing furniture are challenges that curators have been able to respond to, without reducing works of art to a purely decorative function.

From October 5, 2020, the Official Residence will present a selection of works from the Figueiredo Ribeiro Collection, curated by Ana Anacleto and João Silvério.

Covering a wide period of contemporary Portuguese artistic production, the Figueiredo Ribeiro Collection is on deposit in the municipality of Abrantes, being the basis for the creation of the Contemporary Art Barracks in 2016, with a view to its public enjoyment.

The selection of works presented at the Official Residence reflects crosses between different generations of artists and takes parity representation into account, among other aspects.

In previous editions, “Arte em São Bento” hosted the Serralves Collection (2017), the António Cachola Collection / Elvas Contemporary Art Museum (2018), and the Norlinda and José Lima Collection (2019).

The inauguration of Arte in São Bento 2020 – Figueiredo Ribeiro Collection will take place on Monday, October 5, 2020, at 11:30 am. The event includes the opening of new remodeled rooms under the parallel Design initiative in São Bento, inaugurated in January 2020, curated by Bárbara Coutinho.

The Official Residence will be open to the public for visits to Art in São Bento 2020 and Design in São Bento on October 5, between 3 pm and 7 pm.
